How to: Spend a summer's day in Balmoral

One of our favourite Sydney destinations is Balmoral in Mosman (and not just because The Boathouse Balmoral is in this suburb!). We love Balmoral for the locals, the village feel and the coastal charm. Balmoral is also conveniently located a 10 minute drive from Sydney’s CBD, yet feels a world away, tucked down the bottom of the hill in Mosman.

Mosman offers many beautiful walking tracks. Our tip is to go early in summer, before the sun gets too high in the sky! We recommend the Taronga Zoo to Balmoral Beach walk for the adventurous. It is a 6.5km walk that winds around many beautiful bays and historical sites with lookouts along the way. Enjoy coffee and breakfast at The Boathouse at the end!

For those less inclined to walk it out, Mosman is well known for its shopping village, with a mix of designer stores and beautiful boutiques. Make your way from the Northern end of Military Road to the Southern end for a morning of retail therapy!

Midday calls for sharing a seafood lunch at The Boathouse Balmoral. Find a table near the water and enjoy the views of Balmoral and across to Manly.

Is there anything better than an afternoon swim? Balmoral Baths is located next to The Boathouse, and offers a netted swimming enclosure on Balmoral Beach. Known to locals as an iconic swimming spot, the water is calm, and you can walk all the way along the wharf before jumping in. This spot is ideal for families too!

The perfect way to finish your day in Balmoral is with a cocktail and dinner at The Boathouse, on a Friday and Saturday evening. Enjoy live music on the wharf too! Find more details about Balmoral Evenings here.

See you soon!
