Where did you study photography?
I went to the College of Fine Arts and it was here that I really grew into myself as an artist. I was a stubborn 18 year old and didn’t want to listen to my painting teacher tell me to do certain things a certain way. It was then that I looked through a camera and my eyes truly opened. I found it so self directed and the end product was almost exactly what I had envisioned in my head.
Where do you source inspiration?
Throughout my degree I was given the chance to explore so many facets of photography, learning that I thrived in the outdoors and natural light, and connecting with people. On my travels I continued to connect with people and my surroundings and came home with rolls and rolls of memories. I made a resolution to take my family’s old film camera out with me as much as I can. Now my fridge is completely covered with photos and memories of the people that make up my world.
Name your favourite thing to capture?
I was lucky enough to be introduced to some wonderful and talented photographers who showed me just how diverse this world of imagery could be. I stuck true to myself and took on all of the teachings of my mentors. I find myself today shooting faces, food, interiors, travel, weddings, products. It’s always something different and it always makes me smile.
Where are you travelling next?
Patagonia is definitely up there and I would also love to make my way around and through Australia. I have always dreamed of documenting my adventure around Australia and creating a book.
